WITH EACH PASSING MOMENT, THEIR DIMENSION GROWS.
WHERE ONCE WAS STRUCTURE BORN OF HUMAN INTUITION,
WITHIN ARE WARPED, UNRECOGNIZABLE MAZES,
FILLED WITH BEINGS OF ARCANE AND UNKNOWABLE ORIGIN.

FREAKHUNTER is a dungeon-crawler-rail-shooter-action-hybrid for sickos, developed on vibes, and created as an exercise in actually finishing a video game.

It's designed for modern controllers, and will take probably a little under two hours to reach the end.

Mouse and keyboard will work! The bindings are listed below.

IN FREAKHUNTER, YOU CAN:

  •  Navigate twenty-four grid-based levels with smooth, slick movement!
  •  Obliterate nasty freaks with four different juicy weapons!
  •  Find special items to outsmart foes and shake up encounters!
  •  Travel across four distinct environments!
  • Experience a (probably) blurry upscale of a 640x480 image with unfiltered textures!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT FREAKHUNTER:

  • "potential dangerous download"
  • "intimidating"
  • "finally, kings field cruelty squad"
  • "i've straight up never been motion sick from anything before"
  • "actually it's cubivore kileak: the blood"
  • "confusing"
  • "doesn't even let you get gay married 0/10"
Currently, I'm soft-launching FREAKHUNTER on itch.io with a Steam release in the near future. You know how these things are.

    He's gonna getcha.

I finished it in one sitting, three hours

its definitely a game for sickos but by the end I was truly the freakhunter (didn't throw up)

really cool game!!! you should play it!!

VIDEOGAMES FOREVER

I've been playing through FREAKHUNTER on Steam & I've been having a lot of trouble in reading the map in the late Garden levels, specifically in 3-6 where the Mapper Pulsar is introduced.

Will there be an option to add a fixed map option as opposed to a map that moves with the player?

I've been loving it thus far & the game sparks that puzzle joy in my brain as I play along further. I'm gonna push forward in the meantime & see if I can finish it.

Very cool game! Although I think I might've found a bug where the shotgun sigil damages you while shooting it, its to the point that I cant get past the section where you have to shoot the walls down in the third level.

hey, thanks for playing! i believe i fixed this in the latest build, the shards were coming out of a fixed location each frame instead of the player's location each frame, thus hitting you if you walked ahead of them.

Is the steam version updated to the newest version? that's where I'm playing it and I'm still getting hurt by the pellets over there.

uh oh. that's not good! does it happen when you stand still? move? both?
this has been particularly annoying to diagnose since it doesn't seem to happen to everyone

Yeah it seems to happen when I'm standing still, I can send a video of where it happens too if that helps.

that might help. i'll look into it when i have the time...!

@goop-lord Can You invert colors for walls and room connections?

At the current state the map fells really confusing bacause walls color look similar to rooms color making the player think the rooms are connected.

Very cool game!

wow!! thanks so much for checking it out! lots of good playtesting data in here...
